Small in size, big in the air
Meet Mika Heymans, a 15-year-old snowboarder from Belgium who’s already turning heads with tricks that defy gravity and sometimes logic. Born on August 18, 2009, Mika didn’t just learn to walk… he basically slid into life on a board.
He’s no ordinary teenager. While others are still deciding which sneakers to wear, Mika laces up his snowboard boots and hits the slopes. He rides regular, but there’s nothing “regular” about his slopestyle and rail event skills.
Mika trains with the Freestyle Team Snow Valley and Shredmasters, is supported by 12 Springs Trampolines, Snowboard Addiction and Burton and somehow spends just as much time spinning in midair as he does standing on solid ground. Between trampolines, snowparks, and a whole lot of determination, this kid is building something big.
So far, he’s snagged a 6th place at the Europa Cup Rail Event in Kitzsteinhorn, a 12th in Big Air, and a growing reputation as that kid who flies. Just give him a kicker and a beat, and he’ll freestyle his way into your memory.
You can follow his journey on Instagram at @mika_heymans, where he shares snowpark footage, slow-mo spins, and the occasional crash (because hey, progress ain’t always pretty).
In short: Mika is young, fearless, and has more airtime than your local weather balloon. You’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more from him soon.
